The Milk, The Glass, and The Adachis

 

This is actually a review ngunit minabuti ko nang dito ito ilagay. Oo, tama, sa blogs section. Isa lang kasi pwedeng ilagay na picture doon sa Reviews Section. Ewan ko. Isa nga lang ba?

It’s been almost two weeks mula ng sinabi (actually, binigay thru YM) sa ‘kin ni Akda ang isang link ng isang online game. Hindi ito ‘yung tipong online game na iniisip niyo ngayon pero online siyang mataatawag dahil nalalaro lang siya through an Internet connection. Sabi niya sa ‘kin (Akda) laruin ko daw baka sakaling magustuhan ko. Bigay daw ‘yun ng isa niyang kachat, si Gelai. At ayun nga pinuntahan ko ang link.

Get The Glass is about an online 3D board game produced in the US for a certain campaign. The main story is set on the time when the milk is scarce and all of the people living in that era are racing, competing, whatever you call it, just to have the glass of milk. The objective is to help the milk-deprived Adachi family navigate and survive all five regions of the board and break into Fort Fridge so that they could “get the glass”. The glass offers the Adachis the promise of an unlimited supply of milk to help with their various health ailments.

The cast include the Adachi family:

• Walter Adachi is “The Husband” of the family. He needs milk for his brittle bones and weary muscles.

• Lynn Adachi is “The Housewife” who has a PMS due to lack of calcium. She easily gets irritated and needs milk to stop her upredictable irritation.

• Melissa Adachi is “The Daughter” who has a totally messed hair due to lack of calcium. She only wears hats to hide it and sometimes uses flowers to disguise.

• Tad Adachi is “The Son” who has teeth cavities. The cause is, for the last time, lack of calcium.

The procedure is, just like an ordinary board game, you have to roll a die but using the computer mouse.

As you move through the path, there are chances of picking one of the three cards:

• Fortune Card moves you forward;

• Misfortune Card moves you back; and

• Mastermind Card which require you to solve a puzzle (Di ko alam kung ano ang mangyayari kapag naka-solve ka ng isa, kasi ako ni isa sa mga napulot kong ganitong card eh di ko na solve, nabuhay na lang ako sa paatras-atras siguro magmo-move forward ka.)

Behind you and hot on your trail are the Fort Fridge Security that will track you and throw you to the Milkatraz (the name of their jail) if they have gone over you. You must be ahead of them to avoid going to jail. Solving puzzles in every Mastermind Cards you pick and getting Fortune Cards will help.

Aside from the Fort Fridge Security, there are also challenges along the way. There are interactive games called Hot Pursuit (is it the appropriate name to call that?) in which you need to solve/pass (as it should be) to run smoothly ahead the security. There are three chances to succeed or it’s off to Milkatraz. Some of the challenges include helping Walter Adachi drive across the windy curved road without getting the van any damage, helping Melissa Adachi hide her totally messed hair with the use of flowers so that she can disguise, and helping Lynn Adachi stay calm while their van is being repaired (yeah nasiraan sila).

Passing all the challenges will lead you to Fort Fridge and get a chance to have in hand the treasured “Glass of Milk.”

The story doesn’t just end on that. You will need to type a pass code on the vault-like door to open it. It’s up to you where to search the code. You will need (be forced rather) to hurry, coz, remember, the security is running after you. Able to do so will open the huge door but wait the twists aren’t over yet. You must ask for the glass. Remember to be respectful. After doing so, the quest is over and you will have now in your hand the milk that your family (atcually, it’s the Adachis) has been longing for.
